Bupa launches MyFlexi VHIS Plan with first of its kind Push the Limit Benefit

Hong Kong,23 May 2019

Bupa Hong Kong, the leading health insurance specialist, today announced the launch of its new Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan. This is Bupa’s first certified Flexi Plan under the Government’s VHIS scheme after the launch of its Bupa MyBasic VHIS Plan last month.

The Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan offers comprehensive protection for those who wish to have higher levels of health insurance coverage. To cater to different demands for health and wellbeing protection, the Plan offers three benefit levels: Standard, Advance and Deluxe, and each level can further upgrade to a “Plus” plan with Push the Limit Benefit. These 6 plans can empower customers with the flexibility of choosing their own coverage tailored to their needs.

With the Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan, customers will enjoy access to the core benefits from the Bupa MyBasic VHIS Plan, such as guaranteed renewal, no lifetime benefit limit, and tax deduction eligibility, among many others. The Bupa MyFlexi Plan also provides enhanced protection through the Push the Limit Benefit choice, which is the first VHIS Plan in Hong Kong offering both ‘Full Cover Benefit’ and ‘Supplementary Major Medical Benefit’ top-ups, giving customers more protection against unexpected medical costs.

Under ‘Full Cover Benefit’, all eligible expenses incurred at Bupa’s appointed hospitals, specialist clinics and service providers will be fully reimbursed up to the benefit limit of HK$1,000,000 per policy year. Furthermore, after exceeding the item limits in basic benefits and Full Cover Benefit, 80% of the excess would still be covered by the ‘Supplementary Major Medical Benefit, subject to a 20% coinsurance, significantly reducing out-of-pocket expenses, with higher coverage up to HK$600,000. The 2-level Push the Limit Benefit top-ups can provide protection of up to HK$1,600,000 to customers.

Other unique features of the Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan include:

  • Longer Hospital Coverage: Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan offers 270 days hospitalisation coverage instead of 180 days commonly offered in the market to better support customers in need;
  • Cashless Treatment: Customers can enjoy cashless treatments at Bupa’s appointed specialists and service providers, including hospitals, physiotherapists, diagnostic centres, etc. with the Bupa medical card. Eligible medical expenses will be paid directly up to customers’ credit limit, allowing them to focus solely on treatments and recovery;
  • Other Optional Benefits: Flexibility to expand the core product coverage with supplementary Clinical Benefit, Dental Benefit and Maternity Benefit to enjoy more personalised healthcare protection;
  • Child Discount: Discounts of 25% or 35% on policies for children could be enjoyed when one or both parents are enrolled to the Plan;
  • No Claim Renewal Discount: Discounts of up to 15% can be applied to policy renewals when no claims have been made;
  • Health Coaching Services: Customers enrolled in selected plans can enjoy personal healthcare support and guidance, including services from our 24/7 Healthline and Care Manager, 2nd medical opinion, health management coaching from the Chronic Conditions Programme and other extra assistance to support them along the way.

“Following the launch of the Bupa MyBasic VHIS Plan, we are delighted to introduce the Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan, which will meet the needs of customers who wish to seek more comprehensive and flexible healthcare protection,” said Andrew Merrilees, General Manager, Bupa Hong Kong. “The new Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan brings not only more choices to customers, but also greater assurance for consumers and their families that gives them more control of their healthcare.”

Applicants who have successfully enrolled in the Bupa MyFlexi VHIS Plan at designated channels by 30 June 2019 will enjoy a welcome discount of 20% off for the first-year standard premium and a free comprehensive optical assessment.
