Bupa Expands its First Day Case Network “Direct Access for You (DAY)”

Offering High-quality Clinical Eye Procedures

Bupa Hong Kong, the leading health insurance specialist, today announced the expansion of the Bupa Direct Access for You (DAY) programme to its new EyeDAY partnership, following the launch of the Bupa DAY programme in July with its first EndoscopyDAY offering. The EyeDAY partnership now offers Bupa members a seamless customer experience with one-stop eye specialist services and high-quality cashless treatments for clinical eye procedures.

Hong Kong continues to report long waiting times for specialist appointments in the public healthcare system. Patients may have to wait for as long as three years for a consultation with an eye specialist at an outpatient clinic depending on their condition1, while more than 47,000 people are currently on the waiting list for elective cataract surgery in public hospitals2. Given the high occupancy rate in the public hospital system, the increasing availability of day surgery services will help to save time3 and relieve the heavy burden on many hospitals.

With Bupa EyeDAY, customers can receive common types of eye procedures, such as floater correction, glaucoma surgery and retinal detachment surgery, much more convenient at a private day case centre with high quality treatment. The programme offers customers access to seven eye specialty centres around Hong Kong providing professional day case treatments4.

Bupa customers choosing one of the centres in the EyeDAY network are entitled to:

  • Simplified process before and after an eye procedure

Bupa members simply present their Bupa medical card, personal identification document and a valid doctor referral letter when receiving specified eye procedures from our on-site network specialists in every EyeDAY centre, with no extra hassle as their specialist doctors will help them pre-authorise with Bupa, while customers can enjoy cashless treatment.

  • Efficient and convenient treatment

Customers no longer need to endure lengthy hospital stays after undergoing clinical eye procedures. Instead, they can choose their preferred centre location in Hong Kong and return home after receiving their results on the same day.

  • High quality and professional care

All EyeDAY centres are equipped with modern procedure rooms with hospital-grade amenities and facilities to provide the highest level of personalised care to customers. All centres fulfill specific government requirements and standards for eye procedures4 and have been accredited by specialist Bupa teams to ensure high quality and patient safety.

“We are excited to expand the Bupa DAY programme by introducing a designated network of EyeDAY centres to our members who are looking for high quality, safe and effective eye surgical care,” said Dr. SiNing Zhao, Medical Director, Bupa Hong Kong. “The expansion of day case treatment entails a change in mindset we have seen the introduction of the Bupa DAY programme bring confidence to our customers when choosing day case treatments. Our EndoscopyDAY, which was launched back in July, has now grown to include all endoscopic procedures and even more centres. Now, we are launching EyeDAY, tailored to our members’ eye care needs. Going forward, we will continue to grow our DAY programme to cover broader medical services with different specialties, bringing more choices and convenience to benefit our customers.”
