Hong Kong,03 Aug 2022
[Hong Kong – 4 August 2022] Bupa Hong Kong announces its official relocation to its new head office located in the Quayside, in one of Hong Kong's popular business district, Kowloon East.
The newly built head office will house three of Bupa's business lines based in Hong Kong, across domestic health insurance (Bupa Asia Limited), international health insurance (Bupa Global), and health services (Quality HealthCare). The relocation will enhance synergies and drive forward Bupa's transformation agenda to provide an end-to-end healthcare experience for its customers from funding to provision.
The new headquarters, which occupies over 66,000 square feet across two floors with a contemporary in-floor staircase and sea view, will house over 960 office-based employees. The new office features flexible workspaces for both focused activities and collaboration; advanced technologies for more agile communication; and a number of human-centric features, such as optimised lighting that mimic natural daylight, ergonomic furniture and a dedicated wellness room.
Despite a growing trend to move away from conventional office spaces, the relocation to The Quayside represents Bupa's belief in investing in quality spaces to stimulate innovation and collaboration amongst office-based employees. The modern design is a co-creation across employees, professional architects, and designers, who were involved with the project from concept to completion. Employees are empowered to adopt a hybrid working approach, supporting increased flexibility and productivity.
In line with Bupa's sustainability agenda and supporting One Health Mission – to raise awareness of the connection between our health and the planet's health – Quayside is LEED certified and fitted with eco-friendly and recyclable materials, as well as low-energy light fixtures and air quality sensors. In addition, Bupa chose interiors that are certified with sustainability credentials and are fully recyclable at the end of their life. The company is now applying for LEED Gold certification for its head office workspace, the most widely recognised sustainable building rating system in the world.
Hisham El-Ansary, Bupa's Asia Pacific CEO, said, “Bupa in Hong Kong is becoming an integrated health and care company. The co-location of our support office people into the one location at Quayside is a key step to realising this ambition. The state-of-the art office space upholds our commitment to sustainability, helps unite our people and promotes an agile working culture. I look forward to seeing the positive outcomes Quayside brings.”
Andrew Merrilees, Managing Director, Bupa in Hong Kong, said, “Our business in Hong Kong is entering a phase of transformational growth. It's our moment to change – our moment to transform together as one team. To do this, we must have the right space to grow, in an environment that will stimulate innovation and collaboration. The move marks an exciting chapter for us in Hong Kong – accelerating our growth agenda and reconfirming our confidence in Hong Kong amidst the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. Quayside, situated in a prime business location, signals a new era of partnership between our two businesses, focused on providing the best possible experience for our customers.”
